One of the most successful donut franchises on the OBX is Duck's Donuts. If you've ever visited them, you know why--delicious donuts! The Golden Donut of Duck washed to shore in the 1800's from a Dutch schooner that ran aground on the sand bars during a May nor'easter. A young boy from a fisherman's family was the lucky one who found it. The family kept it, took it to the beach and rubbed it everyday to bring fishing luck. It worked until the day it fell out of the boy's pocket and disappeared in a sand dune. Today the donut is worth $900,000. Will you be the one lucky enough to find? If you do, it will certainly bring luck to your family.
